Romeo and Juliet Rewritten in a modern day scenario

Fencing scenario

Sampson – My weapon is occupied and ready to fight. I will support you.

Gregory –  Should we rearrange our event and forfeit?

Sampson – Don’t exaggerate, no fear

Sampson – Lets agree to the rules and let them begin.

Gregory – I will criticize as I amble past my opponent and let them take it.

Sampson – I will display my rude finger to them which is a disgrace to them.

Enter Abraham and George (rival opponent and his friend)

Abraham – Did you show your finger at us?

Sampson – I do reveal my finger.

Abraham – Did you point your finger at us?

Sampson – I do not point my finger to you, but i show my finger

Gregory – Do you argue?

Abraham – Argue? No.

Sampson – If you do, I am with you, I am equally the same to you.

Abraham – not better.

Sampson – You lied!

They fight…   Referee enters.

Referee – Stop, stop , you know the consequences.

  1. Nice job of getting this dialogue into a more standard contemporary English. You definitely understand the dynamics between the characters.

Did you have any ideas of modern scenarios you could use to place this kind of interaction?
